Accessibility

We want everyone who teaches or learns EEG to be able to use PedQuEST.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site is designed to work with a keyboard, with screen readers, when zoomed to 200%, and on phones.

Known limitations

  • EEG views. The EEG Viewer, the EEG gallery and question-bank figures draw waveforms on images and canvases. Their text alternatives describe the figure, but the waveform detail itself is visual and cannot be fully conveyed to a screen reader.
  • Marking features. Questions that ask you to point to a feature on a figure work with a mouse, touch or arrow keys, but are hard to complete without sight.
  • Multimodal Monitoring Lab. The simulator's trend charts and computed EEG are visual and are not yet fully described for screen readers.
  • Colour. Some EEG and trend displays use colour scales; where we can, labels and patterns carry the same information.

Report a problem

If something on the site is hard to use, tell us through the contact form. Say which page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within 10 working days, and can provide teaching material in another format where possible.
